Phishing emails. Malware downloads. Ransomware attacks. As today’s public safety and local government personnel work to keep their communities safe, they’re increasingly at risk for cyberattacks. Recognizing this threat, the Texas legislature recently mandated cybersecurity training for all government employees—and now Lexipol offers a course approved by the Texas Department of Information Resources as meeting the criteria for cybersecurity training.
The 1-hour course, “Security Awareness Training (HB 3834)” is offered through Lexipol’s online learning platforms – PoliceOne Academy, FireRescue1 Academy, EMS1 Academy and CorrectionsOne Academy and LocalGovU. Because Lexipol is certified as a Texas Department of Information Resources Training Program Provider, the course meets the mandates of Texas House Bill 3834, which requires state and local government employees and state contractors to annually complete a cybersecurity training program certified by the Department of Information Resources. The first training program must be completed by June 30, 2020.
Upon successful completion of the “Security Awareness Training (HB 3834)” course, learners will receive a certificate with the official DIR Seal to present to their organization. The course is available for purchase through an agency’s subscription or individual subscription to any of the Lexipol online learning platforms.
“This new course is a comprehensive overview of basic information security, including how to avoid threats and best practices to safeguard and store sensitive information.”
