Lexipol Market Ambassador Spotlight: Chief Sam DiGiovanna Emphasizes Preparation and Advocacy

by | February 7, 2025

At Lexipol, we are privileged to collaborate and work with an exceptional group of fire and police chiefs who bring decades of invaluable experience to our mission. These accomplished leaders have chosen to continue their service by joining us as Market Ambassadors, leveraging their deep knowledge and passion to support current and future generations of first responders. Their insights not only enrich the resources and tools we provide but also ensure our content is grounded in real-world expertise, helping public safety personnel navigate the complexities of their roles with confidence and success. Among them is Sam DiGiovanna, a 35-year fire service veteran whose career exemplifies leadership, innovation and unwavering dedication to public safety.

Sam’s journey in the fire service began with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, where he gained the field experience that shaped his approach to public safety. He later served as Fire Chief at the Monrovia Fire Department. Today, he continues to make an impact as Chief at the Verdugo Fire Academy in Glendale, California, where he helps prepare the next generation of firefighters for the challenges ahead.

Sam’s decision to join Lexipol as a Market Ambassador was driven by a shared commitment to excellence in public safety. “I’ve admired Lexipol’s mission for years. Gordon Graham’s presentations to our city always left a profound impression on me, and when the opportunity arose to join Lexipol, I knew I wanted to contribute to their vision,” Sam shares.

Throughout his distinguished career, Sam has witnessed firsthand the importance of staying ahead of the evolving challenges in public safety. “It’s not just one moment—it’s the culmination of experiences that shapes how I support others,” he says. Whether it’s adapting to new policies, enhancing training programs, or promoting wellness initiatives, Sam’s leadership emphasizes proactive preparation. Now contributing his expertise to Lexipol’s Cordico wellness app, he continues to advocate for mental and physical health as integral components of readiness, recognizing the toll that the profession can take on responders and their families.

Sam’s advice for today’s first responders is both practical and profound: “Challenging times are ahead. Stay vigilant. Complacency kills. Take full advantage of the high-quality, practical resources Lexipol offers.” His focus on education and wellness reflects his understanding that operational success begins with personal well-being.

At Lexipol, we’re honored to have leaders like Sam DiGiovanna as part of our team. His deep expertise, compassion and unwavering dedication not only inspire those around him but also ensure the next generation of first responders is equipped to navigate the complexities of public safety with confidence. Sam’s work continues to remind us of the profound impact that experienced leaders can have in shaping the future of public safety.
