You know, we talk a lot about the care and maintenance of our police equipment. Sometimes, though, we may forget to take care of our most important piece of equipment—our bodies. 

Sometimes we get emails with suggestions for topics for Today’s Tip from Lexipol. Quite a while back received an email from an officer at the Inglewood Police Department here in California suggesting this topic

Working crazy shifts and long hours, some officers, deputies and troopers turn into fast-food junkies. High sugar, high fat, empty calorie meals do not enhance our ability to do our jobs. In fact, just the opposite, they are killers.  But what makes it deceiving is that they are slow killers.  Active and retired law enforcement personnel die every year from diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes and a host of other ailments caused, at least in part, by poor diet.

Our bodies are highly complex, finely tuned machines. To function properly, they need the correct fuel.  Watch your nutrition.  Eat right.
