CHIEF SAM DIGIOVANNA was a 40-year veteran of the fire service. After starting his career with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, he served for 26 years at the Monrovia (California) Fire Department, where he held every rank from firefighter to fire chief. After his retirement, he served as chief of the Verdugo Fire Academy, helping to train the next generation of firefighters in the Southern California region. He was also a senior consultant for Lexipol’s wellness solutions. "Chief Sam" passed in 2025, but his legacy of public service lives on in the thousands of firefighters he trained and mentored.
