Physical Fitness Toolkit for Law Enforcement Officers

The concept of fitness can mean different things to different people. For first responders, it means having the strength, stamina and resilience to perform the physical tasks demanded by the job. As tactical athletes, members of the law enforcement community have a responsibility to stay physically fit enough to perform their day-to-day duties without hurting themselves or negatively impacting public safety.

In the new shift briefing video below, Lexipol Strategic Wellness Director Mandy Nice introduces the groundbreaking Law Enforcement Physical Fitness Toolkit that she recently developed with world-class subject matter experts. It’s just the latest addition to the award-winning Cordico wellness solution. The Law Enforcement Physical Fitness Toolkit includes dynamic educational videos plus a five-level, results-focused, tactical physical fitness training program that paves the way for those working in law enforcement to measurably increase their health, strength, daily energy, physical job readiness and overall quality of life.

While the physical and mental health benefits of exercise are innumerable, it can sometimes seem like they are simply out of reach for busy first responders. Great news: Research published by the American Medical Association (AMA), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and leading universities has proven that as little as 12 minutes of physical activity per day improves health, strength and stamina. Twelve minutes of exercise per day is great starting point, and there are even greater health and fitness benefits to gain when continuing to build upon that exercise routine. Here are the official recommendations:

  • “Good” Amount of Daily Exercise: 12 minutes per day, or 84 minutes per week
  • “Better” Amount of Daily Exercise: 22 minutes per day, or 150 minutes per week
  • “Best” Amount of Daily Exercise: 43-90 minutes per day, or 300-600 minutes per week
