Lexipol co-founder Gordon Graham was recently honored with the Fire Services Training Institute 2018 Howard W. Rayon Distinguished Service Award. The award, in its tenth year, recognizes his service, commitment and dedication in the highest honor of the American fire service and the public safety community. The Fire Services Training Institute (FSTI) provides training to today’s volunteer public safety community including non-profit, industrial and tribal fire agencies.
Gordon Graham is a 33-year veteran of law enforcement, practicing California attorney and risk management consultant, and serves on the Board of Directors for Lexipol. He is internationally recognized as a leading professional in both public and private sector organizational risk management. As a noted author and lecturer, he travels extensively presenting over 20 different programs to public safety personnel and regularly speaks at industry events hosted by the Public Risk Management Association, International Association of Chiefs of Police, International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and American Jail Association, as well as regional, state and local conferences. Gordon is the sponsor and partner of FirefighterCloseCalls.com, which publishes The Secret List newsletter; he guided the development of IAFC’s FirefighterNearMiss.com. He also publishes a weekly Today’s Tip video series on critical issues in public safety.
“As a friend to every firefighter, Gordon is well known for his ‘predictable is preventable,’ ‘significant emotional events,’ ‘if you can think it, it can happen,’ ‘high-risk/low-frequency’ and ‘no time to think’ lectures,” shared Billy Goldfeder, Deputy Chief of the Loveland-Symmes (OH) Fire Department in a post from The Secret List newsletter. “Uniting facts, experience and humor together, Gordon has a unique and very successful way of conveying vitally important information.”
